Fiona Burke CTA

Registered Psychotherapist

Fiona BurkeI am a qualified counsellor, couples' counsellor and UKCP registered psychotherapist.

I have worked to support a wide range of people through a variety of life issues. I am trained and experienced in working with depression; anxiety; anger management issues; relationship issues; bereavement; sexual abuse; workplace bullying; and general emotional problems. I am qualified to treat people with mental health diagnoses such as bi-polar disorder, and to treat  personality disorder diagnoses.

I am experienced in helping people to deal with the after effects of traumatic life experiences, whether these relate to one off events or to difficulties which have run on over some time.

I am a Certified Transactional Analyst, and it's my experience as a psychotherapist that people find Transactional Analysis (TA) theory useful in helping to explain how we think behave and feel. This can help when exploring painful issues and seeking to make changes.

I take an integrative approach to counselling and psychotherapy and in addition to my training as a TA psychotherapist, I also draw on current research in psychology, and utilise techniques from other therapeutic disciplines such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Gestalt Therapy, and EMDR.

In addition to providing individual psychotherapy and counselling I support couples who may be having relationship issues, or who are simply looking for ways to strengthen their relationship and enhance their experiences of being together.

Whether coming along as an individual or as part of a couple, it would be my job to ensure that you feel supported and listened to in a non-judgemental way. I could be a neutral person in your life with whom you could discuss whatever you wished, without worrying about how that might impact me, whether I will take sides, or view you in a negative way.
